The law enforcement agency of the European Union, Europol, the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation, has arrested 15 persons in a crackdown on Nigerian criminal syndicates. The agency organised an operation between December 7 and 9, 2023, against the syndicates with 16 partners from four continents to fight poly-criminal Nigerian criminal networks responsible for serious crimes. Police in Kenya have arrested two Nigerian men over the murder of 20-year-old Rita Waeni in Nairobi. The victim was found decapitated and her remains dumped in refuse bags at a rental apartment on January 14, 2024. The suspects, William Ovie Opia and Johnbull Asbor, have been arraigned. The Canadian government has announced a cap on student permits in the country for the next two years. Immigration Minister, Marc Miller, made the announcement on Monday, assuring that the policy was not aimed at any particular group.
