Some thugs in Germiston, South Africa, have reportedly killed two Nigerians.
A statement by Habib Miller, National Publicity Secretary of Nigerian Union South Africa, issued to Persecondnews confirmed the incident.
He identified the deceased as Ite and Olawa. He said the former was killed during a violent altercation with some thugs in front of his business premises. He explained that a group of thugs had attacked him while he was locking his shop after he and other Nigerians had stopped them from attacking their compatriot who ran into the shop while under attack.
Ita was fatally shot after the thugs identified him as one of those who prevented them from killing their target.
He noted that Olawa fell prey to the notorious thugs known for terrorizing Germiston shop owners with illicit levies and property seizures.
After paying one faction for his restaurant space, another attacked him for defying their orders and supporting their rivals. He was shot to death in the ensuing altercation.
Miller called on South African authorities to intervene in the attack on Nigerians and other nationals. He urged Nigerians to be cautious and avoid confrontations.
