A Nigerian woman has been arrested in the United Kingdom after she spanked her colleague’s butt at work.
The incident was said to have happened at Arena. She was said to have playfully spanked her Jamaican colleague’s behind. However, the Jamaican, who felt offended, reported the matter to the management, who invited the police.
The Nigerian woman, who was not named, was arrested but later released on bail after five hours of detention. She was asked to return on May 5 for further decision on the matter.
Your work colleagues are not your friends.
Let’s learn from each other so that someone else doesn’t make the same mistake again. pic.twitter.com/4VdFIb1wMp

Nigerians have been reacting to the situation, with many expressing divergent views.
@ideniyor: “That distinction is necessary. Work friends are work friends. You keep it friendly and fun but that’s it. Don’t add them to your social media, or invite them to your house parties. Separate work folks from your personal life and you won’t regret it.”
@OBOmaster: “Do your work and go home, no smile with anybody.”
@flourish007: “Without being sentimental, this is a case of sexual harassment/ assault for real in the UK. There is a cultural difference here, she would be charged to court by the police but I’m optimistic that she would not be found guilty if she can establish she is new in the country and genuinely remorseful.”
@AdekannbiG: “Oluwa oooo, one needs to really be careful out there. The culture out there is opposite of ours, what is a friendly gesture here can easily be misinterpreted over there.”
@briaSabi: “This is pure wickedness !! this is why I don’t make friends at work as a real London girl I know what I’m saying, I’m always telling people keep work and your social life separate these people are not your friends they will use any excuse to report you try and get a better position and smile in your face the next day Have boundaries don’t let them know anything about your personal life simple as that it will save you the stress.”
@theEmmanuel001: “People are not helping here with their comments, the lady realised her mistake already. What she needs now is your advice on how to get herself out of the issue, provide solutions not blames please. May God help her. Ire o”
@queenNenny01: “Not everyone is happy with you. African culture remains the best. Because if this happens in Nigeria, na sorry go settle am. If you dey outside country please behave.”
