A Nigerian actor and filmmaker, Femi Ogedengbe, has narrated his journey from the slums of Lagos to the United States.
Recall that he was mocked on social media for working as a security guard in the United States some years back. He said he was angry as his words during an interview he granted were twisted to mean he had met misfortune in the United States.
While speaking on Teju Babyface’s podcast, he said his bold response to his detractors attracted commendation from his colleagues passing through various problems in the US at the time. He added that veteran actress, Bukky Wright, who was in Houston, Texas, had flown to California to see him and linked him with a job.
Ogedengbe added that Joseph Benjamin, another actor who made headlines recently after revealing he worked as a cab driver in the US, had commended him, saying it gave him the boldness to confront persons who were shocked to see him at his job.
While addressing his detractors, he said he made $5,000 a month while working as a security guard in the US. He said his pay was better than what actors earn in Nigeria.
He boasted that he had found his footing in the United States now and his children were attending the very best schools now, wondering why anyone would want to shame him with his legit job.
The ‘Across the Border’ actor also revealed how he grew up in Lagos, his close shave with being lynched and how he ventured into the entertainment industry.
