The video of a Nigerian lady crying over her brother’s death while he was trying to enter Europe through the desert has gone viral.
Narrating how her brother died, she said they had been saving while in Nigeria to fund their relocation dreams. However, she made the move first as she saved up enough money before him. Her trip was smooth as she paid a man to get her into Tripoli, capital of Libya, from Niamey, Niger, before finding her way to Europe seven years ago.
She revealed that she travelled by air into Tripoli as she had her Nigerian passport. After entering Europe, she said she reached her elder sister, whose number she could remember by heart, after losing the paper she wrote some important numbers.
She was able to reach her mother who informed her of her brother’s plans. She explained that she tried to convince him to use the same route she had used to get into Italy but he insisted on following his plans, saying he had paid a ‘connection man’.
She said her mother had paid a pastor who demanded some money for a ritual to track his whereabouts after he was incommunicado for a long time. The pastor, according to her, had said he was in a ‘small prison’ and would be released soon.
However, a lady who had been part of the travelling party returned to tell the story of how he was shot dead in the desert.
She stated that her late brother’s spirit had been haunting her as she believes she could have done more to save him. She added that she sees images of him from afar but on approaching, it would be someone else.
