A Nigerian man has said he has been getting more opportunities since he returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom.
Yimika Owoaje, who returned to Nigeria after three years abroad, said he does not regret his decision, saying his life has taken a turn for the better since he returned.
The movement of Nigerians back home from Western countries they went in search of greener pastires has been termed ‘japada’.
Owoaje said he had struggled to get a job in the UK, prompting him to return home. He said he recognised that community is one of the strongest things on earth and he missed the love he enjoyed back home.
@yimikaowoajeAfter 3 years of living in the UK, I did a reverse Japa and I’ve moved back to Naij for the foreseeable future. Community is important to me. Being back in Nigeria, I have resolved to play whatever role I can to grow our steadily growing entertainment industry. There’s a lot of work to be done, but I’m sure we can rise to the occasion together!
Expectedly, his claim sparked reactions on social media with some persons agreeing with him, while some rejected the idea of returning home.
Olayinka Pemfa said, “Considering japada too. I’m not as happy as I used to be in Naija here, can’t even save as I used to save back home. My happiness matters most to me.”
Abi, “I lived in UK for 9years my mental state couldn’t handle it so I japada to Nigeria! I’m doing well in Nigeria with my SME business. I sell bread alhadulillah ❤️”
However, David Plenty said, “I’m not going back to naija with British passport.. 3yrs more to go, then I can relocate to Nigeria.. am36yrs now, by 42yrs I should be back home .. but it will make sense if u are British cizn.”
Khaeeraah said, “They won’t tell you they already have dual citizenship 😂, before moving back home.”
