Kenya has deported five Nigerians over allegations of drug trafficking and online scams.
The Kenyan Directorate of Immigration Services said the deported persons are Olayiwola Saheed Tunde, Ajibade Adewale, Nwosu Prince Chukwuebuka, Olayiwola Babatunde Akintomwawere and Nwanonaku Alexander Odirachukwuma.
A decision to remove them from the country was taken on March 18, 2024.
Tunde was said to be a drug trafficker, Nwosu was caught with $1 million in counterfeit notes along with 11 fake Nigerian passports and three fake Kenyan passports while Akintomwawere was said to be a notorious online scammer.
Ajibade and Nwanonaku were said to be caught in drug-related offences.
“The Investigations Department reported that some of the foreigners, had even sneaked back into the country after being declared persona non grata and deported in 2023,” a source told Citizen Digital.
“They had become nuisance to the public and to us, as law enforcement.”
The Immigration department alleged that Nigerian nationals previously deported from Kenya, move to neighbouring Tanzania, where they continue coordinating criminal activities in Kenya in collaboration with their counterparts in the country.
