Nigerians residing in the United Kingdom have expressed worry after news of the government cancelling sponsorship licenses and deregistering students emerged.
According to a tweet by Oluomo of Derby, President of the Nigerians In UK Community, sponsorship licenses are being revoked and students being deregistered and asked to return to their countries.
Home office revoking sponsorship licenses left & right.
Universities have deregistered so many students and advised them to leave the country.
So many people are in a state of uncertainty and distress.
I pray that the Almighty Lord will change everyone’s STORY to GLORY.

Recall that Japajantis reported earlier that some Nigerian students protested at the Nottingham Trent University after the institution threatened to withdraw them over unpaid fees. The students urged the management to consider them as the drop of the naira against major currencies had left their parents and sponsors struggling to meet up with tuition payments.
Some other Nigerians in the UK attested to the ongoing scare, saying many Nigerians were stranded as they had been handed ultimatums to leave the country.
A lawyer, Dele Olawanle, residing in London, said, “You don’t want to know what I am dealing with here. It is a mess. Many sold their house, lands, borrowed money and resigned from their jobs to ‘buy’ Cos. It was always going to end in tears. On top of that, marriages are breaking down left and Centre. O bad gan.”
@fortunekole said, “If you are here in the UK. Please try and get a USA or Canada visiting visa ,even schengen Visa e get why.”
@iamkingblink, however, said, “I believe most people are still living well in the UK, I stand to be corrected but we can’t judge UK by the few ones on the negative side.”
@Igodanielvinho: “A friend of mine has been in a messy situation since he came in October, with no shift from the agency that sold COS to him. Crazy that he’s in London of all places.”
@braveyellk: “What did they do? Change story to glory is not automatic. What did all these people do to warrant the cancellations so that others can learn or see if they are in the same position.”
@AmAboyi: “Avoid japa through agency at all costs. These things are online but we’re too mentally lazy to figure it out. Most times these agents cut corners and it can affect your life in the future.”
@kaluemeka89: “My friend Care home licence was revoked. Home office already sent him email to leave the country within 2 months (latest 24th April) or switch to another Visa category.”
@DatsmeFavor: “A lot is going on with so many schools now… Nottingham Trent is one of them lately… Many of our people have been deregistered and asked to go home Please be sure you do thorough research about the school you’re coming to the uk before anything… They now deceive students!”
@momeh02: “Really sad what alot of people are going through we should normalize checking on each other and offer advises that would help ease the situation for most.”
