A Nigerian student in the United Kingdom, Omolola Bowoto, has revealed her urgent need for help.
The University of Essex, England, student risks being kicked out of school, with five months away from her graduation, if she is unable to pay her £20,700 (over N23.7 million) tuition.
The Social Work scholar said she has raised £5,300 (N6 million) and needs help to offset the balance.
She has opened a GoFundMe to appeal for help from well-meaning individuals.
In a TikTok video, Bowoto said the devaluation of the naira and other challenges affected her family’s finances, hence her appeal for help.
“Due to the devaluation of naira and family financial challenge it has limited me having enough to fund my tuition and is disheartening to find myself in this position but I am still strong-willed to complete my studies.
“I humbly ask for your support in any way you can provide – whether it’s a financial contribution, sharing this campaign with your network, or offering words of encouragement. Every bit makes a significant difference, and I am grateful for any assistance you can offer,” she said.
