A Nigerian has been arrested over the gruesome murder and dismemberment of a woman in Roysambu, Kenya, on Sunday.
He was arrested on Monday night at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport while trying to board a plane to Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
Police officers investigating the murder had been tracking the suspect who is believed to have committed the heinous act.
Two other suspects have also been arrested in connection with the murder. They were alleged to have assisted the Nigerian in committing the crime.
A CCTV footage showed him walking into a mini-mart adjacent the building where he booked an apartment for the night.
The footage revealed that he engaged in a phone call with the apartment owner, who directed him to pick up the keys from the mini-mart. He then received both the phone and set of keys.
According to the report, he left briefly, only to return five minutes later to pay the cashier for the apartment, avoiding mobile money to cover his tracks.
The apartment caretaker was said to have discovered the mutilated body of the victim on Sunday morning after he did not return the keys on Sunday morning.
He was said to have disappeared with the victim’s head.
The motive behind the brutal murder remains under investigation.
The family of the deceased has identified her body.
